The strikingly marked Achilles Tang, also called Achilles Surgeonfish, with its large, bright orange
teardrop on black, is native to tropical reefs of the western Pacific Ocean.
Like other tangs/surgeonfish, they have sharp, scalpel-like spines at each side before the tail
used to defend against rivals and predators. Adults grow to some 24 cm long. Diet is algae and plankton.
