The Atlantic Blue Tang, also called Blue Tang/Surgeonfish, the Caribbean Blue and the Yellow Doctorfish (juvenile), is native to
tropical reefs of the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico and contiguous regions of the western Atlantic including northern South America, Florida and the Bahamas.
Juveniles are yellow, subadults are grey with a blue border and yellowish tail (above right) and
full adults are blue or purpleish blue including their tail.
They can grow to some 39 cm (15 inches) long. Diet is entirely reef algae.
