Longspine Squirrelfish Holocentrus rufus

The Longspine Squirrelfish is native to reefs of the Caribbean from southeastern USA to northern Brazil. They grow to some 20cm long. They have painful, venomous spines on their dorsal fin. They are big-eyed, mainly nocturnal and can make sounds to defend territory and startle predators.
