Dover Sole
The Dover Sole, also called Common Sole, is a flatfish native to the sandy or muddy seabed of the northeastern Atlantic from the Norway to Senegal, including the Mediterranean. It is larger than the Lemon Sole, growing to 70cm long. It has a greyish or brown upper side and white underside. Young are born as normally-shaped fish but the eyes migrate to the fish's right side as it grows so that it can half-bury itself in sand.
