The Emperor Red Snapper, also called just Red Snapper or just Emperor Snapper, is native to reefs of
the Indian and western Pacific Oceans.
Like many fish, the young are more strongly marked and the stripes/colours fade as the fish ages.
The juveniles have dark brown markings which are reddish brown on the young adult - some more red than others - and fade
to ghost stripes on senior adults - also some more red than others that are yellow-brown.
Pectoral fins are pink. Adult fish grow to just over a metre.
Diet is other fish, crustaceans and molluscs.
