The Sailfin Sculpin, named after its erect first dorsal fin, is a nocturnal predator of crustaceans and is native to the Pacific coast of North America from Alaska to California. Related to scorpionfishes, they can grow to up to 20cm long. Like other sculpins, their spines contain poisonous venom.
