Weedy Scorpionfish
The Weedy Scorpionfish looks like an insignificant piece of seaweed or coral. It is native to reefs in the Indo-Pacific region. A nocturnal ambush predator, it can give a nasty surprise to passing prey or unsuspecting humans. Colours of individuals can vary from dark red or purple to yellow and pale pink and apparent texture can vary so that an individual looks not only like seaweed/coral but also like a completely different species to another individual of the same species. They can grow to over 20cm in length.
