The African Pompano, also called the Threadfin Trevally, is a large silvery trevally native to tropical seas worldwide. Juveniles have very long filaments trailing from their dorsal and anal fins (threadfins) which discourage predators. The filaments reduce and the body elongates as they mature. Adults can grow to some 1.3 metres long.
