The Clearfin Lionfish is one of several venomous lionfish species. Like other lionfish, it is usually red- and white-
striped as a warning but some are brown. It is native to tropical lagoons and reefs in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans.
It grows to 24cm long and has distinguishing white parallel lines just before it tailfin as well as unstriped, white-tipped spines.
Its spines are highly venomous to predators and humans.
