Neon Gobies, Elacatinus genus, are several species of goby, all with black backs with pale,
logitudinal stripes and all but one native to the tropical western Atlantic. Only the Blue Neon Goby, sometimes called
just Neon Goby, has "neon" luminescence; the others have stripes of white, yellow, pale blue or yellow with blue.
The blue neon stripe can sometimes appear bright white, particularly in photos with dark backgrounds.
The Blue Neon Goby is native to coastal waters of the western Atlantic (including US Gulf and Caribbean)
from Florida to Belize. Often working as a cleaner fish, they can grow to 5cm long.
