The Orange-spotted Filefish has orange spots on turquoise and a long snout. It grows to 4-6cm. It is native to coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific.
It is dependent on Acropora coral not only for food (polyps) but also, unusually for fish, it absorbs the chemicals from the coral to mask its smell from predators.
There is another fish called the "Orangespotted" (all one word) Filefish, Cantherhines pullus, but it is not
orange-spotted, it has orange-yellow lines.
