The High-hat, also called the Striped Drum, is native to the western Atlantic reefs from Florida via the
Caribbean to coasts of northern Brazil.
The name high-hat is after the tall anterior dorsal fin which is particularly high on the juvenile,
longer than the length of the fish on the young juvenile with a long pelvic fin also.
The black and white lateral stripes can be dark brown and white. The adult grows to some 20cm long.
Diet is worms and crustaceans.
