The Common Dragonet is native to the coastal seabed of the northeastern Atlantic.
Males are have colourful biofluorescent lines and extendable, more colourful dorsal fins like sails (used for courtship but
usually folded away) and grow to 30cm long; females are plainer brown and reach 20cm.
The Common Dragonet blends in well with the background and substrate and often buries itself in the sand or gravel.
They are vulnerable to fishing bycatch on the seabed.
