Orchid Dottyback Pseudochromis fridmani

Dottybacks are of the Pseudochromis family of mostly colourful small fish related to the clownfish. The Orchid Dottyback is native to reefs of the Red Sea.

They can grow to some 6cm long. Despite their bright colour, they are shy and secretive, hiding in caves and overhangs to avoid predators. They are aggressively territorial, chasing much larger fish from their homes.
