The Garibaldi Damselfish is red or orange and named after the shirt colour of the followers of the Italian political leader Garibaldi.
It is the largest of the Damselfishes, reaching up to 38cm long. It is native to subtropical reefs of the northeastern Pacific.
As common with Damselfish, juveniles are more colourful, redder, with more iridescent blue spots and fin edges. Also as common with Damselfish,
the male is territorial and aggressive, particularly when defending eggs.
