The Flamefish, also called the Flame Cardinalfish, is native to reefs of the western Atlantic Ocean.
Its is bright red with a black spot near the base of the second dorsal fin, usually a black spot on the gill covers and a dark shaded
bar before the tail. It grows to 11cm long and, like most cardinalfish, is large-eyed and nocturnal. (The Twospot Cardinalfish lives in
the same region and can look similar but has a round black spot before the tail instead of a black or dark bar.)
