The Black-wedged Butterflyfish is also called the Blackwedge, Sickle and Facula Buterflyfish. It looks similar
to the False Facula or Double-saddle Butterflyfish, C. ulietensis but has shorter, more wedge-shaped, black patches on its
saddle.
The Black-wedged is native to coral reefs of the Indian Ocean from East Africa to Thailand/Java. (The Double-saddle,
also called the Pacific Double-saddle, has a more easterly distribution into the Pacific Ocean.)
Adults of the larger Black-wedged can reach some 20cm long (The double-saddle is some 15cm).
