The Raccoon Butterflyfish, also called the Crescent-masked, both names after its black eye mask,
is native to tropical reefs of the Indo-Pacific from East and South Africa to Japan and Hawaii.
In addition to the black eye mask, it has a large, black spot on its caudal peduncle (before tail). It grows to 20cm long.
The Red Sea Raccoon Butterflyfish, also caled the Diagonal Butterflyfish, is native to tropical reefs of the Red Sea
and the western Indian Ocean. Growing to some 22cm long, it is one of several "Raccoon" butterflyfish species in the Indo-Pacific region.
