The Four-eyed (also Foureye) Butterflyfish, named after the two false eyespot markings on its rear flanks, is native to shallow coral reefs of the western Atlantic. The body background colour ranges from whitish to pale yellow and there is a black line obscuring the real eyes. The fish can grow to 18cm long. Unusually for fish, Butterflyfish mate for life.
