The White Seabream, also called the Sargo, is native to the northeastern Atlantic from the southern UK and including the Mediterranean. It has thin, dark bars on its silver body, a black spot at the base of the pectoral fin and a black round spot just before the tail.

It grows typically to some 22cm but can reach 45cm. Estuaries and coastal seagrass beds are used as nurseries for young.
