The Salema Porgy, also called the Goldline Seabream, is native to the eastern Atlantic from France to South Africa and including the Mediterranean.

It grows to some 50cm. Although part of the Sea Bream family, a family often eaten by humans, its beautiful gold lines warn that it is toxic - it is said to produce unpleasant hallucinations when eaten.
