The Horn-nosed Boxfish is native to reefs and sandy lagoons of the Indo-west Pacific Ocean.
It grows to some 35cm long and is generally solitary or in pairs. It eats marine floor invertebrates.
Boxfish, related to pufferfish, have square, bony, armoured bodies that provide protection but limit mobility.
If distressed, they can secrete a toxic mucus from their skin which can kill nearby fish.
