Buffalo Trunkfish Lactophrys trigonus

The Buffalo Trunkfish is a Boxfish native to reefs of the western Atlantic Ocean. It is an omnivore eating a range of marine plant and animal matter. It grows to 50cm long. Boxfish, related to pufferfish, have square, bony, armoured bodies that provide protection but limit mobility. If distressed, they can also secrete a toxic mucus from their skin.
