The Seabass (Sea Bass), also called European Bass, is native to the northeastern Atlantic from Norway to Senegal
including the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Several other fish around the world, both bass/grouper family and other families,
are also called Seabass (or Sea Bass) in their regions.
A silver fish with its gill making a characteristic "ear" shape behind the eye, it can reach up to a metre long.
It is one of the most important food fishes in Europe, particularly in the Mediterranean region
where it is commercially farmed.
Juveniles are shoaling fish but adults are generally solitary. Although an ocean fish, adults enter
estuaries to lay their eggs.
