The Harlequin Bass is related to the large Bass and Grouper fish as well as to the small and colourful Fairy Basslets. It is in the same genus as the Combers (but not the Harlequin Grouper/Hind) and is native to reefs of the western Atlantic. It can have a pale yellow underside and can grow to nearly 30 cm long. It is mainly solitary and eats crustaceans and smaller fish.
