The Painted Comber is one of the Bass and Grouper fish. It is native to the northeastern Atlantic, from Spain to West Africa and including the Mediterranean.

It grows to 25-35cm long and is hermaphrodite (each fish is both male and female). It eats crustaceans, molluscs, worms and fish.
