The Swallowtail Seaperch or Sea Perch is in the Bass and Grouper family of fish. It is native to reefs of the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic from Portugal and the Azores to Namibia. It is a deep-bodied, pink fish with yellow lines on its face and billowing fins in the adult fish which grows typically to some 15cm long.

Bad photos (poor light), but they show the billowing, extended, yellow fins. All fish are born female and live in harems with a dominant male. When the male dies or leaves the group, the largest female will transition to male.
