The Redfin Anthias, also called the Dispar Anthias and Peach Fairy Basslet, is in the Bass and Grouper family.
They are pink, peach or orange coloured with a darker face/head than body and grow to nearly 10cm long.
Dorsal fins are blue-edged and the peach-coloured males (above) have red dorsal fins when raised and a long, thin thread on the white pelvic fins.
Female Redfin Anthias (above) are orange with lyre tails. The scientific name "dispar" acknowledges
that male and female look like different species.
It is native to reefs of the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific.
