Pacific Creolefish
Pacific Creolefish with cleaner wrasse
The Pacific Creolefish is an Anthias in the Bass and Grouper family of fish. It is native to tropical reefs of the eastern Pacific. Even though it is a bass or grouper growing to some 36cm long, its diet is mainly plankton. Young are yellow with 4-5 small, dark spots along the back. Most adults have 4-5 small, white spots along the back.
The Creolefish, sometimes called the Atlantic Creolefish, P. furcifer, is similar but native to warm waters of the western Atlantic.
