The Yellowtail Angelfish, also called the Indian Yellowtail, is native to tropical reefs of the Indian Ocean.
Adults reach some 15cm long.
It looks similar to the closely-related Yellow-ear Angelfish, Apolemichthys xanthotis, of the Red Sea, Arabian Sea,
Persian Gulf and extreme northwestern Indian Ocean. The Yellow-eared, which grows to 20cm long, has a darker, more extensive black head, making the
yellow "ear" spot more prominent.
