The Regal Angelfish is native to reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the only fish in its genus.
Adults, with their attractive brightly-striped body lines on a bright yellow background, reach some 25 cm long.
There are some slight differences in colouring between Red Sea/Indian Ocean populations (particularly a more orange background) and
those of the Pacific (particularly more yellow).
Diet is mainly sponges, algae and tunicates.
