The Queen Angelfish is native to reefs of American Atlantic coast from the Gulf Coast through
Central America and the Caribbean to the northern coast of South America.
Adults, with their sparkling purple "crown" on their yellow foreheads and purple, red and blue markings on yellow,
reach some 45 cm long.
Diet is variable but they particularly eat algae, sponges and jellyfish.
Juveniles (not shown) look very different with a dark blue background, light blue lines
and yellow mouth, chest and tail.
