The Pearlscale Angelfish is native to reefs of the Indian and west Pacific oceans.
The front two-thirds is a pearlescent whitish grey with a grey head, large, orange-rimmed eyes and brownish back;
the rear is dark. Adults grow up to 12cm long. Like others of its genus, groups are all female with one dominant male. The senior female
in the hierarchy will transition to male if the male dies, leaves or is removed.
