The Halfmoon Angelfish, also called the Yellowbar, is native to reefs around the east coast of Africa, the Red Sea, Arabia, the Persian Gulf and the northern Indian Ocean.

Adults reach some 20-50 cm long. Bodies are mid-blue with a prominent bright yellow bar. Tails are usually blue but can be yellow or white. The adult above right seems to be missing blue colouring. Juveniles, like many Angelfish, are dark blue with white stripes.
