The Coral Beauty Angelfish, also called the Two-spined, is native to coral reefs from East Africa and the Indian Ocean through to the Pacific including the Great Barrier Reef and Polynesia.

Colours vary from almost wholly purple to almost wholly orange, but generally a combination of orange, yellow, red and purple. Some can also be nearly white. There is a bright blue-purple margin on the fins. Adults grow up to 10cm long.

They live in harems of females with one dominant male. All juveniles are female. When the male dies or leaves the group, one or more dominant females will transition to male.
