The Blackspot Swallowtail Angelfish is native to reefs of the Indian and western Pacific Oceans.
The black spot on the top of the tail sometimes joins the black border of the female's swallow tail.
The female, above, has a very different appearance from the male, below. It can grow to 18cm long.
The male, above, has black stripes on a white background and is occasionally called the Japanese and the Zebra Angelfish,
although the former is a name also given to The Masked Swallowtail, G. semifasciatus and the latter is also a name given to (the male of)
the similar G. caudovittatus Swallowtail. Diet is zooplankton.
