They have an orange to dark brown body - females are darker than males and both turn darker with age. On the adult there is a single white or pale blue band behind the eye looping from chin overhead to chin; this starts wide but narrows with age. Tail fins are usually orange-yellow or white, depending on region. Crucially, their pelvic fins are black, as this is a key distinguishing feature from the similar Tomato Clownfish which has orange to dark red pelvic fins. They grow to 12cm long.
