Zebra Mosaic Butterfly Colobura dirce
The Mosaic Butterfly, also called the Zebra Mosaic, is native to Central America and northern South America.
Male and female look similar. It has a "nuthatch" tendency - to walk upside down. Possibly this enhances the confusion
to predators of the false "eyespot", so that they peck at the wrong end.
The topside is dark with a white bar on each forewing.
