Black-veined White Butterfly Aporia crataegi

The Black-veined White Butterfly is found through much of temperate Eurasia and North America. Previously native also to southern Britain, the butterfly was extinct in Britain around the mid 1920s.

There is another butterfly called the Black-veined White (Dixeia doxo) native to Africa. It looks very different and is not shown on this page.

They often gather together in colonies at rest.
