The Grecian Shoemaker Butterfly is native to Central and South America (not Greece). The male and female of the species look totally different.
Both have a black background. The male, above left, has two large, orange spots on each forewing and one on each hind wing.
The female, above right, has an off-white, vertical bar on the forewing.
Even the brown, camouflaged underside on the males, above left, and the females, above right, differs.
The pale blue markings on the hind wing also differ (see top). The adults eat rotting fruit; the caterpillars eat euphorbia.
