Most "Morpho" species of butterfly are iridescent blue, but a few, such as Morphus polyphemus here, are white.
Like other Morphos, the White Morphos are native to South/Central America. The yellow-brown and black patterning is variable,
as illustrated above with the left butterfly showing strong markings and that on the right showing a pearl finish with delicate markings.
Like its Blue cousin, the White Morpho hates to open its wings in public.
