Lilac Mother of Pearl Salamis cacta

The Lilac Mother of Pearl Butterfly, also called Lilac Beauty, is native to tropical sub-Saharan Africa, from the west coast to the east. It has a beautiful, iridescent red-lilac topside and is one of several "leafwing" butterflies that mimic a dead leaf when closed, for camouflage.
