The beautiful Silver-studded Blue butterfly - the male above has a blue topside with black border, black spots on the hind wing edge
and a plain white fringe. His underside has the typical pattern of white-bordered black spots and orange and black edge spots with
three of the metallic blue "silver studs" showing.
The female Silver-studded Blue, above, has a dark brown topside typical of female blues, with varying degrees of orange
lunes and a varying amount of blue scales near the body. Her underside, above right, may also have some pale blue "silver
studs" but she usually doesn't have blue near the body on the underside.
The male underside often has blue infused near the body.
