The African Grass Blue is a small butterfly common in parks, gardens and grassland in North Africa, Canary Islands and
parts of Spain.
The male topside has a thick dark brown border (similar to the female Holly Blue)
round blue wings that increase in intensity from mauvish outside to blue in centre.
The female topside is bronze-brown background with variable blue colouring towards the body.
The underside of both is buff coloured with brown spots.
Male undersides are sometimes a little darker than females.
