The Hamerkop or Hammerhead is named for obvious reasons. It is also called Anvilhead.
It is native to much of sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar and southeast Arabia.
The only bird in its genus, it was formerly thought to be related to the stork family but is now
thought to be more related to pelicans and the Shoebill.
The nest is a large, untidy structure of leaves in a tree.
