The American White Ibis is native to wetlands (mainly coastal) of south-eastern USA and Central America
through to Venezuela. Adults have similar plumage, red faces/bills and blue eyes.
It often roosts in mixed flocks with the related Scarlet Ibis where ranges overlap in South America
and has been known to interbreed with them, producing hybrids.

Juveniles are brown with a white underside, small light shoulder stripe and a brown bill.
