Yellow-crowned Night Heron Nyctanassa (prev. Nycticorax) violacea
The Yellow-crowned Night Heron, also called the American Night Heron, is native to coasts of Mexico, Central America and
northern South America all year and to the US Gulf Coast in summer. These photos were taken by Alexandra Makhnina in Costa Rica.
Like most night herons, it is active by day and night, hunting mainly at night.
