Squacco Heron Ardeola ralloides

The Squacco Heron is a small heron breeding in parts of southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East and wintering in sub-Saharan Africa, in addition to resident populations in West and southeastern Africa.

The wings and tail are white.

Adult breeding plumage and the brown streaky non-breeding plumage are similar to that of the Indian, Javan and Chinese Pond Herons, but without the black fronds.
