Boat-billed Heron/Boatbill Cochlearius cochlearius

The endearing Boat-billed Heron, also called the Boatbill, is mainly nocturnal and is native to Central America and northern South America.

It appears monochrome in these pictures but the mainly grey, black and white adult has a pinkish-brown belly and has a pinkish blush on its chest. The juvenile has a brown back.
