The Laughing Gull, above in its autumn plumage, is native to the Americas. In summer breeding plumage it has a fully dark grey-black head with white eye-rings and red bill. It is named after its raucous call. The taxonomic name meaning laughing gull was already taken by the Eurasian Black-headed Gull.
